Refrigeration Basics    REF 202  Monday through Thursday evenings and Saturday - day - 20 hours

Program Objectives: This program is designed to supplement a student’s current knowledge of Air Conditioning and Heat Pumps so that (s)he has a through understanding of commercial refrigeration systems, components and operations.

1) The student will be able to understand refrigerant flow, lubrication and unique characteristics of commercial refrigeration compressors.

2) The student will be able to understand the common causes of compressor failures and will be able to make corrective actions on systems.

3) The student will be able to understand unique accessories and valves found on commercial refrigeration systems.

4) The student will be familiar with electrical wiring and controls of manual defrost, DP, pump down, hot gas and electric defrost systems.

5) The student will be familiar with head pressure control, water regulating valves and cooling towers as found in the industry.

Class Days: Monday through Thursday Evenings, 6:30-9:30 PM and Saturday, 8 hours. Total training time: 20 hours

Prerequisites: 1 year ACR experience or completion of ACHP 105.

Certification of Completion: Upon completing the course and demonstrating proficiency in understanding Heat Pumps and controls, a CERTIFICATION OF COMPLETION will be awarded. 8.4.2010
