Heat Pump  Service      Ht Pmp 201       Friday evening, full day Saturday - 12 hours

Program Objectives: This seminar focuses on the detailed understanding and troubleshooting of the mechanical and electrical systems of heat pumps. The performance evaluation of heat pumps in field applications is developed.

1) The student will be able to troubleshoot and repair mechanical malfunctions of heat pumps.

2) The student will be able to troubleshoot and repair electrical (both line and low voltage) malfunctions of heat pumps.

3) The student will learn the proper charging of units.

4) The student will be able to evaluate heat pump performance.

5) The student will be able to test air flows and volumes.

6) The student will be able to wire common thermostats.

Seminar Outline:

Evening Class:  Heat pump piping, reversing valve, accessories, introduction to heat pump thermostats.

Day Class: Heat pump thermostats, psychrometrics, air flow measurements.

Control wiring and sequence of operation. Defrost controls and troubleshooting.

Charging of systems, performance rules of thumb, discharge, suction, super heat relationships. Evaluation of heat pump performance and troubleshooting.

Class Days: Friday Evenings, 6:30-9:30 PM, and Saturday, 8 hours. Total training time, 12 hours

Prerequisites: 1 year ACR experience or alumnus of HVAC Training School

Certification of Completion: Upon completing the course and demonstrating proficiency in understanding Heat Pumps and controls, a CERTIFICATION OF COMPLETION will be awarded.
